Arusha School / Re: The tortoise (kobe)
Last post by Naomi Wilson - 01 February, 2013, 04:50
Love to share my brother's remark on hearaing of the tortoises "resurrection" as it were.
"What glad tidings of great joy: that which was dead is alive again. We should name him/her "Lazarus"!
I wonder if we can be informed if in the next ten years S/h passes on?

I have just had news that the tortooise is STILL alive! An email from Des Bailey tells me that
Hi Naomi
"I can confirm that as at 30/1/2013 the Tortoise is still alive. This was confirmed by Kathy Barnes who emailed one of the teachers at the school..
I am Des Bailey. Was at Arusha School from 61 - 65.  I remember being at the opening of the library by your dad, but I think this was prior to me being at school.  All my siblings attended the school: Shirley, Laurie, Richard, myself and Maureen."
So there we are - a part of the School History still alilve and munching.
Thank you Des for the information.

Mbeya / Re: Link to Mbeya photos with ...
Last post by Andrew S - 18 January, 2013, 12:11
Hi Valerie,
Your name rings a bell, but I can't remember your face I'm afraid. My mother - recently deceased - lived in N Tamborine Qld for many years and my brother Paul lives close by. My other brother Nick lives in Newcastle. Hence, we have a close association with Australia, although living near Bedford UK at the moment. My wife and I generally only visit Qld and NSW, but if we go to Melbourne we'll be sure to look you up. Barry, Denton and I often reminisce about Mbeya and our lives in Tanzania when we meet in Noosa.
Have a good 2013...Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Valereie Dobson. I was at Mbeya the same years that you were and have contacted many people through this sight,  including Alec Wight, Rosemary Anders, Rodney Clarke, plus many other friends from Kenya & Tanganyika. Alec has been great posting all those photos & I really enjoy looking at them.
I now live in Melbourne Australia and have been here since 1965. We went over to visit Kenya and Tanzania in 2010. Much changed it is, but it was a very spiritual journey for me.
Love to hear from you sometime.
Happy Christmas

Arusha School / Hi There
Last post by moshi10 - 21 December, 2012, 11:52
Hi My name is Alistair Stevenson I attended Arusha School from when I was ten years old in 1956 until 1959 when I was sent to a school
in Scotland. I don't know if anyone remembers me. I do remember the pool at the school quite well and the inspections by Matron also
afternoon sleep times. I also remember spending many happy times at the freezing cold pool at Moshi. I also spent my summer holidays
in Moshi in 1961 with a bunch of kids whose names I cannot remember now! I do remember the Pope family who were in Moshi at
the same time as us and who migrated to Australia at the same time as we met up in London then travelled out together.
Please feel free to reply to my email account
Alistair
