Paul Oliver

Nigel Perks .. is a 35-year-old New Zealander. Hooked on wildlife as a schoolboy, he headed for Africa with �185 in his pocket and ended up in the Serengeti. There, in 1988, he set up Gibb's Farm Safaris and has been guiding ever since.

Having decided at the age of 19 that he wasn't ready for an accountant's life in Norwich, he bought a one-way ticket to East Africa. Now, 23 years later, he is one of the most respected guides in Tanzania.
